Female students at Midlands State University reportedly returned condoms supplied by the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC).
Addressing attendants during a recent ZNFPC meeting held in Gweru, MSU student health department representative, Thandiwe Chadzamira said that although the female condom, known as the Femidom, has low uptake at MSU general massive condom usage at the institution with students using 5 000 condoms per month according to MSU acting director of health, Tafirenyika Shoko.
ZNFPC Midlands province marketing and communications officer, Kudakwashe Mbedzi, said the low uptake of female condoms could be an indication that women are still failing to negotiate for safer sex from their male counterparts.
